Many people have heard the word Mindfulness – but do you know what it really means? Learn a bit more about what mindfulness is, and isn’t. Get increased knowledge and an increased understanding of how mindfulness can help with learning and mental fitness in schools and education. We will offer you confidence in introducing some basic mindfulness practices in the classroom for both you and your students.
Learning mindfulness skills such as recognising body states, bringing awareness to our thoughts and feelings and paying attention to how others are communicating with us all enhance our emotional intelligence. By becoming more aware of our own emotions and how they impact on learning, relationships and productivity we increase self-awareness and our effectiveness in the world. In this workshop we will use recent research, fun group exercises and mindfulness exercises.
The neuroscience behind recent understandings of the teenage brain is fascinating and yet very few of us know about this. If you are a teenager, a teacher or a parent, this workshop will offer simple yet profound knowledge about what is happening through this unique time in a person’s life - while giving you insight into why teenagers behave the way they do. Fun, informative and essential if you want to have better relationships with teenagers or increase self-knowledge.
This course is designed to help parents and carers of school age children understand what resilience is and consider their own health and resilience, in order to support building their children’s resilience. Parents or carers will learn techniques that you can put resilience into practice and get some ideas of practical activities you can use with your children. In addition you will meet other parents who might be good support for you in the future.
On this course you and the children will learn why it is important to look after emotional and mental fitness and how to cope with life’s difficulties. Mindfulness tools are built into the course and can be used very effectively both in the classroom and personally. A teacher’s needs and well-being are paramount to the quality of teaching in the classroom. If the teacher can learn strategies to improve personal emotional and mental health fitness and implement the additional strategies for children, improved teaching and learning will be experienced by all.
